Our Mission
The Athens Area Diaper Bank strives to eradicate diaper need by providing diapers to low-income families in the Athens area, while raising public awareness of diaper need and its impact. The Athens Area Diaper Bank is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Families that experience “diaper need” struggle to keep their children in clean diapers. With diapers costing about $1,000 every year, diaper need is a problem that 1 in 2 families in the United States face. In the Athens area, there are over 8,000 children at risk of experiencing diaper need. Because government assistance programs, such as WIC and food stamps, do not cover the cost of diapers, many families that experience diaper need often resort to re-using soiled diapers or sacrificing other necessities like food in order to purchase diapers. Diaper need is a problem that also keeps parents from going to school or working—without a supply of clean diapers, children cannot attend daycare or preschool programs.
Since the Athens Area Diaper Bank began in October 2015, we have collected from friends and family, local businesses, preschools, sororities and fraternities, UGA departments, local Girl Scouts, churches, and mothers’ groups. We distribute diapers to families via our partner agencies--other local nonprofits, agencies, and organizations in our 6-county service area. In our early days, we were sponsored by the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia as we grew and learned how to support our community. The AADB became an independent organization in late 2018.

Executive Director and Founder: Erin Campbell
Erin Campbell started the Athens Area Diaper Bank in October 2015. She first learned about diaper need when her middle daughter was still an infant, and was horrified to learn about the struggle of diaper needs that so many families experience. Erin quickly searched for the local diaper bank in the Athens community…yet there was none! Erin then started hustling for diapers with friends and family, and quickly pulled together the best team of diaper do-gooders who together started the Athens Area Diaper Bank. Erin lives in the Athens area with her husband, three daughters, and dogs. She is armed with a PhD in cell biology, a great support system of family and friends, and a passion for helping families. Erin enjoys a dance party, a warm hug, and an organized closet. Contact Erin directly here.

Special Programs Manager: Michelle Brinson
Michelle Brinson, a true Georgia native, traversed the state before finding her heart in Athens in 2004. Her journey led her to Georgia College in Milledgeville, where she met her husband, David. The two tied the knot in 2009, building a home filled with a menagerie of dogs, cats, chickens, and bees. Their greatest joy, however, comes from their three children—Singer, Silas, and Meriwether. Michelle champions Clarke County Schools as a room parent and serves as the Chair of the Teacher Appreciation Committee at Clarke Middle School. Though she stepped away from the professional realm 13 years ago, Michelle began her social work journey at The Athens Community Council on Aging. When not immersed in the world of social work or family life, you can find MIchelle covered in clay at Good Dirt Studio. A lifelong gardener, she recently completed the Master Gardener Program, adding another badge to her green-thumb credentials. Beyond the studio and garden, Michelle's love for creating extends to the kitchen, where she enjoys cooking for loved ones. Contact Michelle here.
